Overview
Liberty Mountain Resort is a ski area in southern Pennsylvania. It began in the mid 1960s as Charnita, the centerpiece of a real estate development. Irv Naylor's Snow Time, Inc. bought it in 1974 and renamed it Ski Liberty. Peak Resorts bought it in 2018 with Whitetail and Roundtop, and Vail Resorts bought Peak in 2019. It has night skiing on all terrain seven nights a week, full snowmaking, a 116 room hotel and the Carroll Valley golf course.
Culture
Vail says its eight Mid Atlantic ski areas serve guests from Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, central and southern New Jersey, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., offering local options and easy overnight weekend and holiday trips. Liberty's hotel and lodge stay open year round for weddings and meetings. Liberty sits closer to Baltimore than its sister resort Whitetail, which is 92 miles from the city.
