Overview
Hidden Valley Resort is a ski area in the Laurel Highlands near the village of Hidden Valley, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, a few miles from the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Before 2020 the resort and the surrounding homeowner community were run together by Hidden Valley Resorts, a subsidiary of Kettler Brothers of Maryland. Vail Resorts bought the resort in 2021 with Seven Springs and Laurel Mountain. Vail describes the three as regional ski areas near Pittsburgh that also draw guests from Washington DC, Baltimore and Cleveland.
Culture
Hidden Valley is an unincorporated community whose homeowner association, the Hidden Valley Foundation, covers 1,185 homes and has governed itself since January 2020. The foundation provides private roads, security, pools, trails and social and recreational programs. The ski resort sits within the community along Pennsylvania Route 31 and stands apart from the association.
