Overview
Brandywine is the sister ski area of Boston Mills in Peninsula, Ohio, about two miles away inside Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It opened in 1963 as a competitor and came under the same owner in 1990. Peak Resorts bought both in 2002, and Vail Resorts has operated them since acquiring Peak in 2019. Brandywine has Polar Blast, the largest tubing park in Northeast Ohio, and added the Ram Quad chairlift for the 2022 to 2023 season.
Culture
The two resorts share 18 trails and 11 chairlifts and sit five minutes apart by car. In 2022 a staff shortage at the pair, tied to COVID 19 and an $11.25 starting wage, kept Brandywine closed at the start of the season; Vail then raised starting pay to $20 an hour. Vail lists Cleveland among the metro markets its Midwest ski areas draw from.
