Overview
Boston Mills is one of two sister ski areas, with Brandywine, in Peninsula, Ohio, inside Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Both opened independently in 1963, and Boston Mills' owners bought Brandywine in 1990. Peak Resorts bought the pair in 2002, and Vail Resorts has operated them since acquiring Peak in 2019. Boston Mills has the Tiger run, the steepest slope in Ohio, and holds an annual Winter Carnival with a Slosh Pit and a costume contest.
Culture
In 2022 a staff shortage, tied to COVID 19 and a starting wage of $11.25 an hour, left only Boston Mills open at the start of a delayed season, and local skiers complained of long lines. Vail then raised starting pay to $20 an hour. Vail lists Cleveland among the metro markets its Midwest ski areas draw from.
