Overview
Paoli Peaks is a ski resort in Paoli Township, Orange County, Indiana, just north of Hoosier National Forest. It is built on a natural hill with 300 feet of vertical and 17 runs, and more than 110 snowmaking towers and machines make up for about 25 inches of natural snow a year. Vail Resorts owns and operates it. Its 45,000 square foot day lodge sits on top of the hill, and visitors stay in hotels nearby.
Culture
Paoli Peaks has extensive night skiing, with Midnight Madness sessions until 3 a.m. on most weekends, and a Spring Carnival with a cardboard sled race and a slosh pit. Its ski patrol has about 85 members, mostly volunteers who hold full time jobs elsewhere. Vail lists Indianapolis and Louisville among the metro markets its Midwest ski areas draw from.
